Before you buy

What to verify on the label.

  • Organic and grass-fed are separate claims. Check for both on the exact package if both matter to you.
  • Choose the exact variant: salted, unsalted, sticks, or a spread with added oils.
  • Local prices vary. Use the brand’s buying options and compare the same net weight.

A few useful answers

Is organic butter always grass-fed?

These are separate claims. Our Organic Valley record supports organic and pasture-raised milk claims; we have not verified a 100% grass-fed claim for that specific butter.

Do you have a verified organic and grass-fed butter?

None of the butter records currently in this guide has both claims verified. Selecting both filters will show that gap rather than suggest an unsupported match.

Why is there no butter price per ounce?

We have not verified a current retailer price for these exact packages. Find a store and compare its price against the package weight.
