Privacy
CleanFoodScore has no accounts and no signup. You can check products, build an avoid-list and compare shelves without telling us who you are.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to count visits and a few actions, such as clicks on “Buy on Amazon” and other where-to-buy links, product searches and label checks. The Google tag is loaded through Cloudflare from our own domain. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) so it can tell one visit from another. We use this data only to see which pages and tools help shoppers; it is not used for advertising.
Google explains how it handles this data in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser.
Our own event log
The same actions are also sent to our own server at /api/e. It accepts only a fixed list of fields: the event name, the page path, the product or link domain involved, short product search words, the length of a pasted label (never its text), and the kind of site that sent you here (such as a search engine or an AI assistant). It stores no IP address, no cookie and no visitor ID; the only thing added on our side is the country Cloudflare reports for the request.
Stored in your browser
Your avoid-list, saved staples, recent checks (including any label text you paste in) and any staples reminder are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device, and are not sent to us. The site also saves where you first arrived from (for example a search engine, with the landing page and date) so the events above can be credited to it. Clearing your site data removes all of it.
